SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — A young child was hospitalized Monday afternoon after being struck by a vehicle near an Olive Garden on the West Side, police said.

Officers were called around 4:20 p.m. to the area of West Loop 1604 and Highway 151 for a reported pedestrian accident.

Police said the child, believed to be about 3 to 4 years old, ran across a small roadway as a vehicle was turning around the Olive Garden. The driver did not have enough time to stop and the vehicle ran over the child’s foot.

The child was taken to University Hospital. Police initially said the child was in stable condition, although officers had not received an updated medical report from EMS at the scene.

The driver remained at the scene and was not injured, though police said the driver was shaken up.

Police said no criminal offense is suspected and the incident appears to have been an accident.
