Salem-Keizer School District Begins New Year With Closures Looming
SALEM, Ore. — The Salem-Keizer School District begins today. Many older students return to the classroom for this 2026-2027 school year, with some of the younger ones starting tomorrow. But, there is chance that some of the younger students will be going to their elementary school for the last time as the district has announced as many as 8 schools will likely but shut down starting next school thanks to declines in enrollment.
The School Board will make the announcement of which schools have been identified sometime in October with a final vote coming in December.
