Pilot program in Multnomah County Gives Children Struggling with Homelessness Needed Support
PORTLAND, OR – For the first time in Multnomah County, young kids will have access to behavioral health support at a family homeless shelter.
A pilot program is now underway, bringing the Oregon Health Authority, Morrison Child and Family Services, and Path Home shelter services together to make sure young children get the support they need to thrive.
“It allows us to place one of our mental health consultants at Path Home Shelter to support the families who live there with children who are (affected),” Chief Program Officer at Morrison Margaret Scott said.
Program services include mental health treatment and parenting classes, during which childcare is provided.
