City of Corbett Has Three New Tools in Firefighting Arsenal
CORBETT, OR – Corbett residents will soon see improved fire protection for homes in rural areas without access to fire hydrants. The Corbett Fire Department has received the first three of five new water cisterns.
“They are 15,000-gallon(s),” Corbett Fire Chief Rick Wunsch said. “We will certainly enhance our capabilities out in those areas where there are not fire hydrants available.”
Two of the cisterns will be installed in the Aims area and the third along Larch Mountain Road, all outside the Corbett Water District. In areas currently served by water tenders, the cisterns will save time and provide a dependable water supply for battling structure fires and wildfires.
The $100,000 project is being funded by a fire district bond measure approved by voters in 2022. They should be installed by this fall with the other two coming next year.
